Perimeter is actively involved in the research and development of an ecosystem services valuation methodology for Canada’s grasslands. Through a research grant co-funded by the Federal government (Mitacs Award 2020), Perimeter and the University of Alberta are collaborating to develop empirical and economic models of greenhouse gas abatement potential in the grasslands and agricultural lands of Canada’s prairie provinces.  This research program has been in development since January 2020, and the research began in Q1 of 2021.

The research is led by Dr. Timm Döbert (https://cms.eas.ualberta.ca/faramarzilab/timm-dobert/), with co-supervision from Drs. Monireh Faramarzi (UofA - https://cms.eas.ualberta.ca/faramarzilab/) and Majid Iravani (Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute). Perimeter Solar’s team will be assisting with the economic analyses for this research program.

We look forward to sharing updates about this exciting project!
