BOARD OF DIRECTORS
COMPANY HISTORY
Perimeter Solar Inc. was founded in 2016 as a solar energy development company. Our initial development work focused on the Alberta and Saskatchewan market, where we developed five greenfield solar projects totaling over 300MWac. Two of these projects were sold in 2017 at an early stage. In 2017, Perimeter formed a partnership with Obton A/S of Aarhus, Denmark, with Obton taking a 49% stake in Perimeter Solar Inc. Obton is a real estate and renewable energy investment company with a longstanding reputation in these fields and is currently one of the top owners/operators of solar PV projects in Europe. With the newly formed partnership, Perimeter was able to continue with the capital-intensive development efforts of our 132 MWac Claresholm Solar Project. In 2020, the Claresholm Solar Project was sold to Obton A/S and Capstone Infrastructure Corporation, an independent renewable-power producer based in Toronto, Canada.
At the time of the Claresholm sale the project was fully permitted, shovel-ready and had entered into a power purchase agreement with TC Energy for the sale of a portion of its electricity and renewable attributes. At that time, this represented the largest corporate power purchase agreement for a solar project in Canadian history. Once operating in mid 2021, the Claresholm Solar project will be Canada’s largest solar photovoltaic plant and will have been developed and constructed without any subsidies.
Following the sale of the Claresholm Project, Perimeter began a program of real estate acquisitions in Canada focused on natural infrastructure assets. In parallel, we are actively developing energy storage projects, environmental attributes projects, solar power projects, and are providing project development and acquisition support in Canada, Europe, and the United States.
